Umjolo: The Gone Girl’ to kick off streaming giant’s first South African film collection.

Tyson Mathonsi stars as Lucky and Sibongiseni Shezi takes on the role of Lethu in the upcoming film “Umjolo: The Gone Girl,” which will be the first to premiere in Netflix South Africa’s inaugural film collection.

 

Set to release on November 8, this film marks the beginning of a series featuring four productions that invite viewers into the fictional world of “Mjoloville.” Each of the four films explores the complex love lives of different women as they navigate relationships, commitment, and self-discovery.

 

A new film will be released each month from November to February, revealing unique chapters in each woman’s journey.

 

The series is produced by Stained Glass, a renowned production company known for its iconic South African television shows over the past decade.

 

“Umjolo: The Gone Girl” features a talented cast, including veteran actors like Baby Cele, Meshack Mavuso, Gugu Gumede, and Ntando Mncube, alongside Mathonsi and Shezi. Other cast members include Sibusisiwe Jili, Londeka Sishi, Thobeka Shangase, Sipho Alphi Mkhwanazi, and Tina Redman. Notably, Sipho Alphi Mkhwanazi will narrate the film, bringing his unique charm and humor to the project.

 

The story follows Lethu, an accomplished event planner and hopeless romantic who seems to have the perfect life. She runs her own successful business, enjoys strong support from friends and family, and is engaged to Lucky, the ideal partner. However, Lethu’s world is turned upside down when she contracts a sexually transmitted infection, revealing Lucky’s infidelity. This devastating discovery shatters her illusion of a perfect relationship, leading her to rely on friends Amanda, Zanele, and Thoko for support.

 

Now facing a crossroads, Lethu finds herself trapped in heartbreak, struggling to escape the emotional turmoil of her shattered dreams.
